Trying to draw some more attention to its line of motherboards, Taiwan-based MSI has announced today that the new AM3 790FX and 790GX lines of motherboards will be available with the company's Winki online environment, which was introduced during the CeBIT 2009 in Hanover, Germany. This new feature will allow desktop computer users to
connect and browse the Internet without having to wait until the full operating system is booted up. While similar technologies have already been introduced by other companies, the news about Winki is that fans of AMD's latest platform will be able to take advantage of this feature on their new MSI AM3 motherboards.
The Internet is now providing computer users with a series of tools and online applications that can essentially replace the need for a fully fledged operating system. Users can now come online and check their emails, edit text documents, listen to music, play online games and more, without being all that dependent on the operating system. With MSI's Winki, they will be able to browse the Internet, use an online instant messaging service, place online phone calls and more, even before the Windows OS is fully loaded.
In addition, the new AM3 790FX and 790GX motherboards from MSI will be designed to take advantage of yet another MSI feature, dubbed APS. The APS technology stands for Active Phase Switching and has been designed to automatically adjust the amount of power being supplied to various key components. APS essentially allows the user to better manage the power consumption of their desktop PC. With the addition of the new Winki feature, the new AM3-ready motherboards from MSI can provide users with an enhanced computing experience.
MSI is yet to unveil the price tags of its new Winki line of AMD 790FX and 790GX motherboards.
