We’re sure you’re aware that EA and Crytek have released the long awaited DirectX 11 patch for Crysis 2. To enable the full DX11 glory, you need to do the following steps:
1. Patch the game to version 1.9
2. Install the DirectX 11 Ultra Upgrade
3. Install the High resolution texture pack.
If your copy of Crysis 2 works through EA Origin, Steam, or another digital distribution service do not download the file labelled Patch 1.9 as your copy will have to receive the patch through their services. You are free to download the DirectX 11 Ultra Upgrade and high resolution packs which will work as long as your game is v1.9.
Here’s a quick overvion on the enhancements that are being added to the game:
Tesselation + Displacement Mapping
Tesselation FFT (fast fourir transform) water simulation
Particle motion blur (such as sparks)
Sprite-based bokeh depth-of-field
Particle shadows
Shadows with variable penumbra
Water interaction – sub-surface scattering and wave crest foam appoximation using the domain shader
Real-time local reflections (RLR) – Approcimates ray traced HDR reflections local to objects
